In a first for South Australian rallying, sarally.com.au are proud to broadcast the ASP Adelaide Hills Tarmac Sprint, the South Australian Tarmac Rally Championship and Round 3 of the South Australian Rally Championship, live across the internet on Sunday 29 June 2008 with Autosport TV and SA Motorsport Tyres Instant Results.

Autosport TV will bring all the excitement of rallying direct to your computer, with videos uploaded to sarally.com.au stage by stage, allowing viewers to stay in touch with events as they unfold. Leading crews such as 2006 Sprint Auto Parts Rally S.A. winner Steve Glenney and 2007 South Australian Rally Champion Matt Selley will be just two of the crews carrying in car cameras for the event.

SA Motorsport Tyres Instant Results will allow those unable to attend the event to keep in touch with the results stage by stage, from both the computer and mobile phones. Results will be constantly updated on sarally.com.au during the day, and messages will be sent to registered mobile phone numbers as stage results come to hand.

“Technology has now progressed to a point where this level of technology is available to state level rallying” said SA Rally.com.au manager Ryan Jones. “Just a few years ago we couldn’t even dream of attempting something like this.”

This broadcast will not be without its challenges. “Providing live coverage for a sport like rallying is extremely difficult. Now that mobile coverage has improved it has become more possible, however coverage and internet speed issues remain. We are very much looking forward to a successful test on Sunday, and with support from our partners we hope to be able to continue to expand our live coverage schedule on all South Australian Rally Championship events. The pressure is now on to raise the bar at every event, and we relish the opportunity,” explained Ryan.

It is fitting that this breakthrough first appears at the ASP Adelaide Hills Tarmac Sprint, as this is the first tarmac state rally championship round in any state of Australia.

This breakthrough would not be possible if it weren’t for the generous support of Autosport, SA Motorsport Tyres, Iles Selley Lawyers, Application Service Provider, Southern Vales Tinting and Accessories, and the ASP Adelaide Hills Tarmac Sprint organising committee.
