“IYK 000” to be on display at The Alpine

Yokohama Alpine Rally

Australia’s most famous rally car will be on display at the Alpine Rally on 13th – 15th November.

The Ford Motorsport Escort RS1800 commonly known by its registration number IYK 000 which was driven by Greg Carr in the Australian Rally Championship in the late 1970’s will be at a number of venues over the weekend of the Alpine. This is the first time the car has been on public display for some years.

The new owner, John Hadden, said he was delighted to offer the car to be on display as it is such a significant piece of Australia’s rallying history and what better way to display it than at Australia’s most significant classic rally, the Alpine.

In another major development for the Alpine this year, organisers will be holding a major social event at The Lakes Entertainment Centre on Friday 13th November for everyone involved with the rally.

There will be video footage of past Alpines, a forum of past Alpine winners and contestants and an auction and raffle to raise funds for the local CFA brigades who will be on hand at the many refuel locations over the course of the event.

Dinner will be available and Clerk of Course, Stuart Lister, will announce the Saturday starting order for cars later in the evening. This will be the first opportunity of the weekend for the public see IYK 000 which will also be on display there.

At the time of writing, organisers have over 180 Expressions of Interest from competitors all over Australia and expect that number to rise before close of EOI’s this Friday.
