The 2011 Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally (AHTR) organising committee is very proud to announce that it will be supporting Variety SA and their unwavering dedication to inspiring hope and enriching the lives of children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs who are under the age of 18.

With the successes that were achieved over the last few years in having a dedicated charity supported by the AHTR, we look forward to working with the various SA Variety Bash teams and aiding them so that they can continue to achieve great things.

Variety SA directly helps many individual children and families in need by providing practical and much needed grants for items like modified tricycles, electric beds, and communication devices for children who would otherwise ‘fall through the gaps’ and have nowhere else to turn.

In 2010 Variety SA made available 191 appeals, totalling $2.592 million to help South Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh and learn.

As an example, with Variety’s help, thousands of children travel on supplied Sunshine Coaches every day, last year Variety SA gave 11 Sunshine Coaches to schools and organisations to help children who are disadvantaged or have special needs so that they can experience daily activities and special life experiences. But Variety want to eventually have enough Sunshine Coaches on the road to get all of our special children out in the sunshine and interacting with people who care. So please help us help Variety get more Sunshine Coaches on the road.

2011 SA Variety Bash Chairman, Doug Lehmann is thrilled to be partnering with the AHTR to help raise even more valuable dollars to help South Australian children in need.

“The SA Variety Bash is all about raising money for children who need it most in our State. It’s great to have the support of the Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally (AHTR) whose partnership will ensure that Variety SA can help make a tangible difference in the lives of even more children in need. It is with thanks to the support of events such as the AHTR that the SA Variety Bash is such a successful and iconic event,” said Mr Lehmann.

Variety also helps regional and disadvantaged schools receive much needed computers as well as vital learning and play equipment. They also receive thousands of requests for vocal output devices, cochlear implants, myo-electric limbs and other technologies. With your money more special children will be able to hear, find a voice or become mobile.

We hope to provide value to Variety SA through the fundraising prospects that will be available to us all in the lead up to and during the event. Also, the central Variety SA motivation and its achievements will be promoted and showcased at the 2011 Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally. We are hoping to provide children and families in need with an awareness of the
support networks and groups that are available to them.

With the culture, the focus on excellence, the commitment to all aspects of safety, the dedication to the development of junior drivers and the awareness of community needs, the success that is the 2011 Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally will hopefully bring the Variety SA teamthe rewards and recognition they so justly deserve.

The 2011 Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally has been scheduled for the 27th through to the 29th of May.
