Australian Super R2 Rally Championship

in

The Australian Rally Championship will have a new class in 2011, specifically for Rear Wheel Drive rally cars. This Championship is based on the Club rally car rules and allows greater freedom to adopt modern technology into older rally cars.

Rally fans have been asking for an exciting spectacle to come and watch, and although the Classics have been a great addition to the front of the ARC field, spectators want more action. The benefits of the new Supercars are that they are not only going to be incredible to watch but have much lower running costs and will offer greater reliability.

For instance a Mark11 Ford Escort will be able to run a 2.3ltr fuel injected Duratec engine which is 1/3 the cost of a BDG Engine. You can also adapt a Quaife Sequential Gearbox which has been specifically design for rear wheel drive cars of any make and only costs around $7,500 and is virtually indestructible for cars under 350hp. A VH Holden Commodore will be able to bolt in a 5.7ltr alloy crate engine straight out of the box for less than $7,000. A Datsun Bluebird can run with a SR20 engine. This category is designed to attract competitors who are passionate about rallying and want to put on a show without sending themselves broke.

Pre registration will be needed for the Supercars to ensure that any cars that are being proposed will fit within the criteria of the proposed Championship. These are not Group G cars and the ARC will be very strict on safety and presentation. Cars must be professionally prepared and painted to be accepted into the Championship.

The registration fee is $10.00 and you must nominate which events you plan to run in along with detailed description of the car you propose to run and the running gear you plan to put in it. The Championship will be based on the best 4 out of 5 rounds.

Awards will be presented at each event for top 3 placements subject to entry levels. Prize money will also be allocated, 1st place $1000, 2nd place $750 and 3rd place $500.

Expressions must be emailed to Katie Philps [email protected] by 3rd December 2010.
