Copyworld Walky 100. Robertstown. 25th June 2011

Motorsport action returns to the Mid North of South Australia on Saturday the 25th of June with the 27th running of the Copyworld Walky 100 Robertstown Rally. Based at the Robertstown Oval, just 130km North of Adelaide, this event sees competitors take to the closed roads of the district hoping to complete the 101km event and in the process striving to win Round 2 of the South Australian Rally Championship.

One of the first pace noted events in the country has made it attractive to some of the best rally drivers in the country. The last couple of years have seen visiting drivers from interstate using this round, and its fast technical roads, to gain great experience to further their motor sport careers. Recent competitors Brendan Reeves and Molly Taylor have moved onto the international stage and are now competing in the World Rally Championship Academy. Another recent entrant Eli Evans is now racing for Honda in the Australian Rally Championship. It goes to show the benefits of competing in this event and using it as perfect preparation for the SA round of the Australian Championship that takes place each year based at Mt Pleasant at the end of July.

This year’s Robertstown event has six day time stages and the excitement of five night stages with the best drivers in the state racing on the roads along the ridge tops surrounding Robertstown in a dazzling display of night time motor sport as the rally cars spotlights light up the night sky.

The Copyworld Walky 100 rally holds claim to having the most spectacular jumps used in Australian rallying. With an official spectator point right near these jumps on the One Big Hill stage, come and watch the rally cars fly as they charge over these three massive humps on the road.

With a big entry list full of past winners, current and former South Australian Rally Champions and a crop of rising stars it will be an exciting contest. Cars entered vary from the latest turbo 4WDs to classic vehicles from the 70’s and everything in between.

We look forward to welcoming you to Robertstown, South Australia on the 25th of June. To the competitors, we wish you luck in your battle for victory.
