Young up and coming South Australian rally driver Guy Tyler is getting ready to take on the best tarmac competition in the country in the Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally (AHTR), to be held on the 27-29th of May.

The AHTR will be Guy and navigator Brendan Warner's first event for 2011. The AHTR not only hosts the first round of the South Australian Rally Championship, but is also the first round of the Australian Modern and Classic Tarmac Rally Championships for 2011.

As a past student, and now ambassador, of the Southern Districts Car Club’s (SDCC)Junior Development Program (JDP), Guy has been granted an opportunity to compete in the national section of the rally thanks to a subsidised entry provided by the organisers and SDCC, who run the successful and well organised event. Along with Guy, two other JDP graduates and aspiring young drivers - Daniel Day and James Rodda, have been given the same opportunity, and with all three entered in the same class, the competition promises to be very exiting.

"To be able to compare times, and compete directly against national championship competitors, is a huge opportunity for me and I hope that I can do the SDCC and the people who have helped me right from when I first participated in the JDP proud", says Tyler, who has been lucky enough to upgrade to an ex Ed Ordynski Lancer Evolution 3 for 2011, enabling him and Brendan to take their rallying to a whole new level.

The team are looking forward to an action packed year in which they will be competing in the South Australian Rally Championship, the Rallyschool.com.au Australian Junior Challenge, and several other state and club events in SA.

The team would like to thank their supporters - Aluminium Dynamics, B&R Autogas and Exhaust, Walkers Creative Art and the Southern Districts Car Club.
