Tyler wins SA Clubman series

Guy Tyler and Brendan Warner on their way to winning the 2010 SA Clubman Series

After an exciting season of rallying in South Australia, the young pair of Guy Tyler and Brendan Warner have claimed victory in the Clubman series in only their first full season of rallying.

The final round took place at the Kuitpo forest rally, and with 6 crews all still in within a chance of series victory, the competition was always going to be hot.

After a two month delay of the rally due to excessive rain in the forest, the event got underway on the 28th of November in what was almost ideal conditions with a good mixture of wet and dry stages keeping everyone honest. The clubman section of the State event was held on the first 7 stages and for Guy and Brendan it was just a matter of driving hard but making sure they got to the finish.

"What a fantastic year! I can’t believe that we’ve managed to achieve this fantastic result this quickly especially in our first full attempt at the series" says Tyler who ended up with 140 points to Stephen Mee’s 127.5, and became the first team in the history of the series to do so in a 2wd car. "Stephen obviously gave everything he had to try and bridge the gap, but fortunately for us we managed another consistent result of 2nd 2wd which gave us the edge". Rounding out the podium positions for the season was Michael Busby who was again very impressive in his Toyota Sprinter.

To add to this success, Guy and Brendan also wrapped up the P2 class for the South Australian rally Championship, in a year which saw them win three out of the four rounds in the class.

The team is hoping for bigger and better things in 2011, with a possible car upgrade and lots of fresh enthusiasm, season 2011 is shaping up to be another great year for the pair. The team would like to thank B&R Autogas and Exhaust and the friends and family, (especially Chris!) that supports the pair. They are also seeking sponsorship for their future rallying campaigns and would greatly appreciate any help they can get. For inquires contact Guy Tyler via, [email protected].
