Roger Paterson to defend his Australian Classic Tarmac Championship title in the 2011 Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally

Roger Paterson is back in 2011 to defend his 2010 Australian Classic Tarmac Championship Title, and what better way to start his defence than by competing in his home state in a South Australian born and bred event that he has supported since its inception, the 2011 Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally (AHTR). Roger has competed in the AHTR since its current format originated in 2007 and has always been a formidable opponent to all that have come his way. His edgy yet quick driving style matched with his trusty 1974 Porsche 911RS and the ever reliable co-drivers that he has had over the years have always been a resounding crowd pleaser and a nightmare to fellow competitors. With the distinctive livery, gravely engine note and blinding speed, there is no mistaking when Roger is on a stage and on song.

“I really can't wait for the new, bigger, better ASP Rally 2011. I’m looking forward to a bigger and more competitive Classic field this year and I expect that it will be a major challenge for us to defend last year's win.” Roger said to the 2011 AHTR organisers. So it will be of particular interest to see the field that will be coming out to take on Roger in his own backyard, and exciting to watch the competition unfold.

The 2011 Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally will be presenting 28 stages over 3 days, delivering just over 190 competitive kilometres. Friday will start with the prologue at Collingrove, followed by 6 stages that will head towards Penny’s Hill Winery at McLaren Vale through the magnificent Adelaide Hills. Saturday’s 12 stages will be run just south of McLaren Vale down to Victor Harbor, South Australia’s holiday capital and the events service park location for the day. Another 10 stages on Sunday will take place north west of McLaren Vale, travelling through the picturesque towns of Meadows,
Macclesfield (location of the Sunday service park) and Strathalbyn before returning to McLaren Vale in the late afternoon to complete the event at Penny’s Hill Winery.

The 2011 Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally wil be held from the 27th through to the 29th of May.
