Team History:
At 24 years of age, driver Lewis Parin has always had a great passion for motorsport. He began competing in club level events at age 18, and won his class in his first ever event. After spending a year servicing for a friend in 2005 Lewis realised that rallying was an ideal opportunity for him. Co-Driver Sarah Parin (nee Furniss) 23, was also eager to get closer to the action. Her level headedness and punctuality have proven vital in her role, as well as her exceptional organisational skills in managing the team. Velocity Racing was formed in 2005 when Lewis and Sarah first bought their ex Michael Guest Mitsubishi Lancer Evo III. The team contested the 2006 South Australian Rally Championship and Clubman Series with mixed fortune. They went on to build their skills and experience throughout 2007, but their 2008 season came to an abrubt halt when a crash caused extensive damage to the car. The team made the decision to rebuild the car from the ground up, and it debuted at the 2009 Adelaide Hills Tarmac Rally. The team have had many ups and downs over the past year, but were happy to finish on a high note as 2009 SA Rallysprint Champions.
Team Sponsors:
Velocity Racing is very proudly supported by Mike Dale Automotive and SA Motorsport Tyres. The team would also like to thank Infinity Signs and Mitsubishi Motors Australia. 2009 ASP Kuitpo Forest Rallysprint finishing equal 1st to 110th of a second after 97km of stages in the 2009 SA Rallysprint Championships. Finishing 3rd in the 2009 SA Clubman Championship after only contesting 2 events. Setting top 3 stage times at the 2009 Robertstown Rally in my first event back on gravel in over 14 months, building our Evo III from a bare shell in our home garage after destroying our old car at the 2008 Tarawatta Stages. Finishing our first ever rally at Eden Valley despite 2 flat tyres, a bent steering arm, broken suspension and a blown intercooler pipe. Finishing 2nd in clubman in my first ever event at the 2006 SA Autocross Championship.
Most embarrassing motorsport moment:
Spinning and becoming beached on a post in the spectator area of the Forties special stage during the 2009 Rally of SA - it took for a pack of spectators to run over and push us off WRC style! Or crashing into and knocking over a 15" steel Armco barrier in front of 6000 people during the Angaston Super Special Stage in 2007. The car was fine but the stage was stopped while a forklift was brought in to resurrect the barrier.
